Y hallo ther!

Well its been a long week for me, and there seems to be TONS of sales going on. Halloween is around the corner and so the costumes are coming out. YaY! I went to the "New Shoots - A Fashion Show Case" last night, and was not only impressed by the young designer outfits but want to give a shoutout to the Metro Models! You girlz rwak my sawks! The after party at Caffeine Au Go-Go was excellent as well! Even heard a French punk song :O how awshum is that.

I have been changing my style around. I used to be, what a friend called me "grunge princess", which is true :P I was very much into the grunge/urban Neko style. I dont feel that the SL digital culture I choose [ Neko ] needs to be defined by a particular dress style, nor anyone else for that matter. Having a choice of self expression, in a way that we cannot so easily do in the real world, is one of the real allurements of being in Second Life; at least to me it is.

There's been some interesting topics going on this week.

First Topic: The 12 Avatar competition

They are now giving out the other eight girlz who will be in the calendar. Congratz Babyhoney Bailey and Yolesa Palen on 1st and 2nd place, and to all the girlz who put their pix up! It was an interesting experience to be honest. By Friday I was "very" tired of networking, and typing. Type, type, type, that's all I did for days to ask my friends to come vote for me. It was a lot of hard work and overall a very good experience. I will never run for politics....ever. I placed 4th in overall votes, and I attribute that to being a Second Life DJ for 18 months. I have worked upwards of 40-55 hours a week sometimes, in various clubs and events, but DJing is a passion for me. In the end, it did pay off in terms of social networking, and word of mouth to vote, and I did meet some very nice girlz who were in the comp as well, and it was a positive (and tiring) time for me.

Second Topic: Armani.

The Armani store has opened, and I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but I read a write up on it and the whole concept of real world marketing in second life, and the lack of sense, to say the least, in what life for shoppers in the virtual world is like. I laughed when I read about the toilets! Toilets in SL is a waste of prims imo, although they might add a certain ambiance? I support second life designers that work hard and build good stores that are easy to get around in. The wonderment of the fashion world in SL is that anyone with good graphic skills, creativity and a desire to create can, whether they are a student, stay at home parent, teacher, etc. Real world brand names are interesting to see how they dont necessarily develop a following in SL, despite their marketing plans.

Third Topic: Anorexia.

This was an odd topic, but it brought out the whole "body image" concept that we, as humans, seem to be programmed through our environment and media to define what we see as Aesthetic, even here in the virtual world. We do bring our ideals with us since our medium is more a mental and emotional world, with a type of graphic physicality. But the stereotypes and prejudices seem to come right along with it as well. It would definitely be an interesting sociology/psychology case study to try to understand how we transform such boxes in a world where we have the freedom to look, act, and express how we want to be, and yet we (collectively) seem to conform to one thing or another. Something to think about, at least it made me think more about it. I wrote earlier in the post, my experience this week with the whole [ Neko ] style vs Neko subculture, and yet, in the end, conform to my own self expression, as it is a digital lifestyle. I suppose the bottom line is that nothing is truly original.

Last Topic: My outfit

Finally I have a little write up I wanted to share. I love this outfit I put together. I am the DJ manager at Botany Bay, and I am holding a weekend DJ hiring faire. I wanted to wear something business like, but nothing stuffy. I fell in love with the Paris shorts, that I saw in the New Shoots show last night. So my outfit developed around that. I combined the form fitting Last Call Marrakesh top and a pair of Tesla shoes. Tesla has some awesome shoes and hats in that shop! I bought several pairs of shoes. After wearing the *HCT* Marla hair all day, and the primOptic Sofia glasses, I realize that I didn't like it! *LOL* I spent the day doing interviews and on-air auditions, and with this outfit on, I felt sexy (despite the hair/glasses) and yet business like.

Sooooo, thats my wrap up and my rambling for tonight. Tomorrow is another day, and I am looking forward to next week - living on the grid-

Wow haven't posted for a couple days...My ass is gettin uber lazy =/. Well I gots me a bunch of news for all of you that like tried to tp to my store...and failed...HERES WHY...I was wandering around the other day and happened to see this quaint lil hole in the wall piercing studio...and well i took a peek in...(its what i do) Any who im peekin around and i won't name names...cuz ya know at one point in time we all gank ideas from someone else...but this shit was ridiculous...Had my piercings...named the same thing....This chick went in and like musta copied hella numbers to do so...to say the least i was floored...I was actually bout to release 6 new piercings today but instead in a fit of rage i took it down...See I try to be nice leave my shit modifiable...so you can adjust it to your face...but...well people stealin my shit aint cool...

Anyways on a brighter note I will be reopening FFS at a new location thanks to mah daddeh RAY HABERCOM <----dude i love that guy. And all the new releases including some belts and possibly a tat if i can play my cards right. HERES HOPIN!

So I used to wear a lot of accessories. I loved wearing belts, bracers, arm bands, leg bans, you name it; more attachments the better. As the seasons change real life, so does the SL fashion trends right along with it. I seem to be changing as well, into a more casual, less accessories digital kitty. *mew* So my mood today is not so sugar-eating, caffeine drinking hyperness, but more of a "I can do simple prep stylez."

I found some great casual shirts at -plus NINE- that are pretty but with a smexy fit to it. I paired it with a pair of black form fitting trousers, with a loose bottom cuff, from a set by -Pixeldolls-. I topped the outfit off with a very classy pair of black shoes with white trim from -Maitreya-. The main accessory I put on was a necklace I got from the Jewelry Expo, 2007, that I went to on Sunday. It was a $1/$5 Gift necklace created by -Alienbear Designs- that I bought up! It was a gift, yanno?

See that was simple as simon the pie man! ^^

On a side note, accessories are fun to wear, and sometimes you just find that one or two that you just don't want to do without, but being an accessorho is not all that its made out to be. Lag? for one, and for two, unless you are able to really get an outfit together that can maintain symmetry and cohesiveness, you just end up looking like you don't have a clue. Trust me, I know :P I'm sure I will find myself having a day where I run around the grid looking like im ready for some urban ghetto warfare armed with belts, arm bands, bracers, and my favorite -Sinistyle- ripper boots again soon.

Ya can take the kitty outta da ghetto, but ya wun take the ghetto outta da kitty. Or sumfing loike tha. <---see Summerneze already started.

Yet, I had a dream like a lot of others, to experience this world for all that its worth and to be a part of a new type of life, a virtual life that emulates real life in all sense, this isn't a hack n'slash, Ub3rl33tz, raiding style MMO.

Whether we're designers, DJs, models, scripters, consumers, builders, land barons, own a company, shopper, clubber, etc, we all have a purpose to fulfill in our second lives, otherwise we wouldn't spend all our time in this world (we all know what we loathe about SL lolz). This calendar is sparking competitiveness that the fashion industry (rl/sl) really encourages, to find out who wants the title, the job, the climb to the top the most. Women from all areas, all professions, all SL pursuits have put their entry in to be part of this venture. That in itself makes it an unique opportunity for every digital female!

The Grand Winner and First Runner Up win by popular votes =o! So that evens the playing field a little, because anyone could win, if they have enough votes. Which also means that anyone with enough friends, persuasiveness and creativeness could obtain enough votes to win, whether they are really beautiful in the publics fashion eyes or not. This is an interesting conflict, do we want to vote in someone who is seen by the SL fashion industry as "gorgeous, sexy, high style?" or do we find that in the end, someone less than stellar has won due to a better campaign for votes?

"12Avatars is the best printed calendar of Second Life’s top beauties. With stunning women from cover to cover, it showcases the heights of virtual world beauty and fashion."

This statement from 12avatars contest entry form seems to want the best of the best for the calendar. Everyone is beautiful in their own right, but we all know ruthed, default linden lab characters are not what we want to be seen as. Its up to you, the public, to vote for your friends, your family, and those who want to be impartial, to find the one woman you think would bring the description of what 12avatars is looking for.

We'll see next Monday who wins! Good luck to everyone. Last count there were over 380+ entries, and I am sure this week will prove who really wants the opportunity to represent a Second Life woman and to show the world what we are made of!

Well well well, my very first blog post! Howz this for poppin' my bloggin cheery? ^^ I decided I'd start out with something that I love. Dressing down! We are like busy bees, always looking for the next new "style," shopping for things we saw reviewed, looking GQ all over, tromping around the grid with our self expression stylin'ista (yay new word to use, Fashionista is out, but hey Stylin'ista is in!) but hey! Yanno wut? My favorite time of day is when I go home with my love, kick off the boots, get into something comfy and just spend some time relaxing.

Today we went to Jewelry Expo 2007! The blogs are full of write ups on the beautiful jewelry that is being displayed! Did you see the auctions?? Wowzerz! Big money, Big money, no whammyz! I didn't "Press My Luck" but I did donate to the American Red Cross kiosk that was in the middle.

We headed next to the House of Zen One-year event. Wonderful designs -asian- so yep yep I had to go check it out! My bags were full by this point. There was a fashion show at 5pm that we attended. Very nice event (laaaag) but hey thats the Grid for ya.

I spent the day wearing something comfortable while spending money and time buying items that I can wear "out and about." How's that for fuxxored! But wanted to show that beyond the glamour and frillz, sometimes you just gotta be real with yourself by the "express with less" stylez!

K so I'm rockin emo yet again....I guess you could say it's my signature style...Dark, depressing, maybe even a hint of sad....but then when i open my mouth...sometimes jus sometimes I blow you away with a shock of happiness...My outfit today describes how i feel...minimalistic...thats how i rock it...I don't want too much glam not too much in your face ness...just...Aeryn... The jeans are comfy and you can never go wrong with a simple pair of jeans...covered up with a good belt is always a plus....working eclectic bangles and rings can bring the progress of the outfit up to a new level but never push it with accesories ladies...a simple necklace ties it up...No funky pigtails/hats/big ass hair....Just plain jane all the way.

Wooot!-G.L.A.M Just had a Sale(Not sure if it's still on) and I felt so lucky that my homegirl took me there.I whent crazy and basicly bought the whole store.Everything was about 35L to 50L and around those digits,I was the happiest girl haha.So yea,check out some of my favorite items they had...The Jeans..OMG... they Look like the real apple bottom jeans,so realitic,so beautiful and details that this picture didn't capture well(Condierating I had to shrink it for the blog).They have it in pink details and white,from dark jeans to the very white ...and yes I bought all shades and colors HA... Oh and the jacket with the hoodie,again very realistic with gold details..yes i Love Gold LOL.The hoody can be worn up or down.... For accesories and extras,I had to pick the cute yummy chain,can you see the cute little yummy charms? hehe..they have the maching belly chain as well..I have to go back to buy the rest!!.I also bought the cute color changable shoes and bangle to go with the whole ghetto glam look lol... Oh and check out that cute lip gloss and mirror compact hahaa,I saw it and i had to buy it,it's so dam cute lol and they have other colors too.That store has sooooo much stuff with tons of colors and unique stuff you don't see anywhere els,I mean I'm a very picky person when it comes to shoping and spending money and when i whent to GLAM,I droped everything and shoped till i droped,seriously.

Sporty spice meets paris hilton....thats the look i was trying for...and personally i think i tackled it with an angry fury. The shirt form fitting to go along with the classic hole-eeee jeans...Total teenage angst stage right there folks....the Jeans having holes in just the knee and well...(slightly below the bottom -le gasp!-) The shoes...oh lordeh love the shoes...finally and i say this with great sadness...They are the only pair of shoes...that actually...dare i say it? look like shoes....I finished off my look with one of the new releases from etd...that i am actually head over heels with....so i guess the long ass wait was well worth it! kudos!
