[ Status Report ]

I live and work on the grid, also known as Second Life. It is an interesting world, filled with marvelous, shocking, weird, and amazing experiences. I am a cyberkitty, Neko by choice, digital by design. I recently was exposed to an amazing store that certainly can help to express my cyber style. It is named !AVZ! Audio/Visual/Fashion and the main facility is located at OnCom (222, 135, 661). The creator is Hern Worsley; Designer, DJ, and definitely a creative avatar.

I was amazed first of all by the design of his store. The display were set up with animated images of models showing the products, and yet there was distortion of the images (on purpose) that made me feel like I was experiencing virtual reality in virtual reality. It really drew me to just watch the displays and soon I had made my mind up what I could purchase. I had in my possession a token to his store, that allowed me to spend 250L on whatever my kitty heart wanted. Of course it took more than 250L, but it was a start to my shopping spree!

[ View 01 ] The Imp Hair



It didn't take me long to find one of several hair styles that Hern had created: AVZ ~ Imp Hair (Jet Black). The style is anime cyberpunk. It was easy to fit and adjust to the shape of my head. The hair is pulled back and upwards in chunks and secured by a larger headband, a la Goku style. The two very long strands of hair that hang down on the sides, help to soften and create a more feminine image. The style comes in 14 different colors, a full set of all colors pack, and there is a demo so that you can try it on before hand. One can modify and copy the hair, but it is non-transferable. The texture and colors of the hair are a little cartoonish, and some of the lighter colors seem to blur together with very little definition, but overall its a cyber/anime hairstyle and to me that is the point of expression to wearing it. One can modify and copy the hair, but it is non-transferable. This product is easy to wear, unique, cyberpunk, and its not the only style available!

[ View 02 ] The Climatix Mask



Are gas masks your thing? It isn't necessarily mine, but when I saw this display witht the big "NEW" sign above it, I had to stop to take a look. I was thinking Darth Vadar, Cyborg, Doom 3! It is advertised as a Climatix Mask: Breath particles FX, 9 different sinister breath sound FX, and Colour change detail. There is a Demo available that you can try on for 1L and gives you an idea of how it will look on your face. After purchasing the main product you will find, inside the package, two different sizes of the mask, and a notecard. The notecard explains how to change the color of the trim, how to turn on and off the functions, how to change the sound, and another little interesting feature that you can find out from the notecard. There is also a long list of various colors that you can use for the trim. The mask fit very well, and I had very little trouble adjusting it to my face. The design is sleek, trim and the options make this a very versatile and fun product to have. I found very little negative with it, save the fact that cyberpunk masks are not for everyone.

[ View 03 ] The Saddlebags



I have a hard time finding belts, and especially belts that fit, so I usually advert my eyes and walk on by belts, but my eyes were riveted to this belt style known as the Saddlebags. At first glance it was shiny, sleek, silver and black and caught my attention so I watched the preview model and decided to try the demo. I wasn't able to adjust the size of the demo, and it was way too large. So I examined what was on the belt itself. There are two side saddle bags, a pouch, a holder with a snap for GPS/Data Recorder/etc, a chain latch, and a place to put your digital juice in. What cyberkitty wouldn't have those things available so I purchased the belt. I was able to modify the belt once I unpacked it, and even though it doesn't fit my hips as close as I'd like, it still looks good and not every hip is the same size, so there is versatility there. Despite the fit, the belt texture and style is really nice and for those who like the cyberpunk sleek style, this is definitely the belt one should have in their inventory.

[ Summary ]

Hern Worsley has come a long way. I met him last winter, through a sl family member, and had the pleasure to hear him DJ, that is a great experience in itself, but I saw his first store and he gave me a scarf and some boots he made. His style and designs now are not even comparable to how he was when he started out. He is futuristic, creative, and it really shows in his products. Even the music in the store gives you a feeling of being in the cyberworld of the books and movies that some of us flock to like kids in a candy store. My 250L token was spent fast, as well as more lindens from my account. I can't wait to see what else Hern creates and this kitty gives the store "Five-star Mewz* for design, creativeness and overall style!

Soooooo, last week, I woke up and my kitty showed me his application for the "Mr. Savvy Avvy" male model competition. I honestly hadn't been down to the Savvy Avvy store (formally called AZ Designs), and so we went down there so I could take a look at it. I must say that it the store was filled with really great clothing for both men and women. The guys have the downstairs showcase and was filled with different styles and options: casual, sporty, urban and formal. The women have the upstairs with amazing casual, dressy, urban, outfits. Zahara Rahja and Mathfew Alonzo have been working hard to create a modern shopping experience when you walk through their store, as well as providing not just excellent styled clothing for all, but also have shoes and boots with good textures that make you definitely want to buy everything! If you haven't been down to Savvy Avvy, I suggest that you take a teleport by and check it out!

Y hallo ther!

Well its been a long week for me, and there seems to be TONS of sales going on. Halloween is around the corner and so the costumes are coming out. YaY! I went to the "New Shoots - A Fashion Show Case" last night, and was not only impressed by the young designer outfits but want to give a shoutout to the Metro Models! You girlz rwak my sawks! The after party at Caffeine Au Go-Go was excellent as well! Even heard a French punk song :O how awshum is that.

I have been changing my style around. I used to be, what a friend called me "grunge princess", which is true :P I was very much into the grunge/urban Neko style. I dont feel that the SL digital culture I choose [ Neko ] needs to be defined by a particular dress style, nor anyone else for that matter. Having a choice of self expression, in a way that we cannot so easily do in the real world, is one of the real allurements of being in Second Life; at least to me it is.

There's been some interesting topics going on this week.

First Topic: The 12 Avatar competition

They are now giving out the other eight girlz who will be in the calendar. Congratz Babyhoney Bailey and Yolesa Palen on 1st and 2nd place, and to all the girlz who put their pix up! It was an interesting experience to be honest. By Friday I was "very" tired of networking, and typing. Type, type, type, that's all I did for days to ask my friends to come vote for me. It was a lot of hard work and overall a very good experience. I will never run for politics....ever. I placed 4th in overall votes, and I attribute that to being a Second Life DJ for 18 months. I have worked upwards of 40-55 hours a week sometimes, in various clubs and events, but DJing is a passion for me. In the end, it did pay off in terms of social networking, and word of mouth to vote, and I did meet some very nice girlz who were in the comp as well, and it was a positive (and tiring) time for me.

Second Topic: Armani.

The Armani store has opened, and I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but I read a write up on it and the whole concept of real world marketing in second life, and the lack of sense, to say the least, in what life for shoppers in the virtual world is like. I laughed when I read about the toilets! Toilets in SL is a waste of prims imo, although they might add a certain ambiance? I support second life designers that work hard and build good stores that are easy to get around in. The wonderment of the fashion world in SL is that anyone with good graphic skills, creativity and a desire to create can, whether they are a student, stay at home parent, teacher, etc. Real world brand names are interesting to see how they dont necessarily develop a following in SL, despite their marketing plans.

Third Topic: Anorexia.

This was an odd topic, but it brought out the whole "body image" concept that we, as humans, seem to be programmed through our environment and media to define what we see as Aesthetic, even here in the virtual world. We do bring our ideals with us since our medium is more a mental and emotional world, with a type of graphic physicality. But the stereotypes and prejudices seem to come right along with it as well. It would definitely be an interesting sociology/psychology case study to try to understand how we transform such boxes in a world where we have the freedom to look, act, and express how we want to be, and yet we (collectively) seem to conform to one thing or another. Something to think about, at least it made me think more about it. I wrote earlier in the post, my experience this week with the whole [ Neko ] style vs Neko subculture, and yet, in the end, conform to my own self expression, as it is a digital lifestyle. I suppose the bottom line is that nothing is truly original.

Last Topic: My outfit

Finally I have a little write up I wanted to share. I love this outfit I put together. I am the DJ manager at Botany Bay, and I am holding a weekend DJ hiring faire. I wanted to wear something business like, but nothing stuffy. I fell in love with the Paris shorts, that I saw in the New Shoots show last night. So my outfit developed around that. I combined the form fitting Last Call Marrakesh top and a pair of Tesla shoes. Tesla has some awesome shoes and hats in that shop! I bought several pairs of shoes. After wearing the *HCT* Marla hair all day, and the primOptic Sofia glasses, I realize that I didn't like it! *LOL* I spent the day doing interviews and on-air auditions, and with this outfit on, I felt sexy (despite the hair/glasses) and yet business like.

Sooooo, thats my wrap up and my rambling for tonight. Tomorrow is another day, and I am looking forward to next week - living on the grid-

Wow haven't posted for a couple days...My ass is gettin uber lazy =/. Well I gots me a bunch of news for all of you that like tried to tp to my store...and failed...HERES WHY...I was wandering around the other day and happened to see this quaint lil hole in the wall piercing studio...and well i took a peek in...(its what i do) Any who im peekin around and i won't name names...cuz ya know at one point in time we all gank ideas from someone else...but this shit was ridiculous...Had my piercings...named the same thing....This chick went in and like musta copied hella numbers to do so...to say the least i was floored...I was actually bout to release 6 new piercings today but instead in a fit of rage i took it down...See I try to be nice leave my shit modifiable...so you can adjust it to your face...but...well people stealin my shit aint cool...

Anyways on a brighter note I will be reopening FFS at a new location thanks to mah daddeh RAY HABERCOM <----dude i love that guy. And all the new releases including some belts and possibly a tat if i can play my cards right. HERES HOPIN!
